Decks / Handicap Ramps / Pergolas

Performed by: NB Weitz Contracting LLC

Design

Dropping $10,000 on a deck is risky enough; hedge the uncertainty by seeing detailed drawings before building. The process starts with a free consultation to gather information on the proposed deck. Together a vision of the future deck is molded based on the clients' wants, needs, limitations, and terrain. In our offices a detailed plan is drawn up and submitted with a price quote, time line, and references. Lastly a simple contract is signed stating the rights and duties of both parties.

Build

A good design requires a great carpenter to breathe life out of a sketch and sculpt the center piece of your next graduation party. NB Weitz Contracting "cut its teeth" as a sub-contractor framing custom homes featured in many of Dayton's finest neighborhoods. As a framer we were granted the responsibility of finishing all the decks for the custom houses. Since then we have built a lot of decks both as a sub and a general contractor; we would be honored to build yours.

Deck Checklist Apples to Apples

Task Description NB Weitz
Permits City building codes exist to prevent a uniformed and unaware public from dangerous structures. Prevention is better than the cure, and a deck that holds a graduation party is better than one that doesn't. It may save a few bucks, but running a deck through the county at the least is a second pair of eyes and at the most is a life saved. Check
Treated Regular lumber is prone to termites, rout, and mold. Decks, basements, and anything touching the ground is built with treated lumber or the "green stuff". The wood is treated to help withstand the weather and prevent rout. Check
Screws Decks that are nailed will look great just long enough for the builder to get paid; a season after, and the boards are pulling apart, squeaking, and gapping. Nails slide out with the constant expanding and contracting of the lumber as it goes from climate to climate. Screws are made to bite the wood and stay tight years after construction. Check
Stairs All of our stairs are custom cut on site to guarantee a flat and smooth tread with a predictable landing. We build everything from custom houses to simple decks and we have never installed a set of prefabricated stairs that felt "right". In addition we always install risers on each deck stairs that helps cosmetically but more importantly reduces the amount of bounce. Check
Professional As a company we are structured as a LLC. All of our employees are full time and treated with the respect of all federal and state requirements. We are by no means the biggest construction company in town or the most expensive but we do like to think of us as the most professional. Check
Legitimacy NB Weitz isn't floating from one job to another looking for quick cash. We believe that we are growing a company rather than doing a job. As a result it is in our best interest to conduct ourselves in a professional manner while building a large network of satisfied customers. Most of our new customers are gravitated to us by word of mouth, a network earned by giving our customers something to brag about. Check
Insured We stand behind our labor knowing we use the best techniques and follow every applicable industry standard. But most of us are human, mistakes are made. If they are we will do what it takes to make right by us. From dedicating time and recourses to running the problem through our insurance we believe in a product we can stand behind. Check
